So now my summerholiday has really started. The ballett was finished over a weel ago with the early big danceperformance. I danced a part called "Aurora" with my group. Was a very nice dance with some really nice costumes with a greenish colour I've never seen something similar of before. The performance also had to be on the same day as the AFS-party of the Austrian girl (us three exchange students in the city have to make a party with custums from our countries), so I missed half of it. The same week my voluntair worked ended for the summer too. Susanne (the Austrian girl who also work there) and I gave the kids candy to end things for the summer, and finished up our classes with the older ones. Must say that I will miss these kids, especially since I probably will switch to another institution where they have voluntair work. They are really cool, even though they sometimes don't listen to what I say and ask me if I'm pregnant (yes, I gained some weight, but hopefully not that much). Had a very interesting conversation with one of the little boys one of the last days. He is the kind of type is everywhere at once, and always seems kind of confused. Also he is as 6-7 year-olds usually are, a bit to sincear and honest. The conversation was more or less like this:
"Professora, você está com bebé?" (Teacher, are you pregnant?)
"Não, querido.. Por que? Parece que?" (No, my dear, why? Do you think it looks like I am?)
"Sim, um poucinho..." (Yes, a bit..)
"É porque sou gorda, acha?" (Do you think it's because I'm fat?)
"Nâo, você não é gorda, só parece que você está gravida.." (No, your not fat, you just look pregnant)

After some minutes silence, he started asking again:

"Professora, por que você está com saia?" (Teacher, why are you wearing a skirt?)
"Porque é verão agora, é muito quente." (Because it's summer now, and it's very hot)
"Mas você não tem shorts?" (But don't you have shorts?)
"Sim, tenho, mas não bastante, é tambem gosto dessa saia.." (Yes, I do, but not many, and I like this skirt)
"Mas, não tem vergonha que alguem pode ver as tuas calcinhas?" (But aren't you afraid that someone will see your underwear?)
....

The conclusion of this is that I'm never going back to work with skirt again.
This week we also had a lunch with all the people who works there. We were at this hotel near my house, which was good, because I ended up being thrown in the pool by one of my earlier student and Susanne, and I didn't have clothes to change..
But anyway, I'm not really looking forward to the school starting again. Having holidays is something I'm good at. I've gotten into this really good dayrythm now that includes relaxing, going to the gym, and the ngoing back home to relax a bit more. And during the weekend I usually have plans about doing nothing, but sometimes things just pop up. Seems like brazilians are very bad at advising in advance. This sunday for example, when I was planning to do nothing. My mom woke me up asking if I wanted to climb this hill with a group of friends of her. Got ready in a half hour an went with them, and had a really good time. the nature there was very nice and they even had a silver mine for us to see. When I arrived at home Stefan called me and asked me if I wanted to go with him, Diego and some other friends of Diego to give presents to poor children. So we drove around in all Garcia (my neighbourhood, but at the size of a city) and threw candy to all the kids we saw, and afterwards stopped where these poor children was and gave them the presents. Really got a good impression of how things are here... And also was surprised when I meet one of my students among these kids, and a woman who cleans at my work who was there with her children.. I guess it's what they call hard reality. When I got back to the house Luana (my sister) asked me if I wanted to go out with her and some friends of her. Since I reallt wanted I went with her and had a really great time. We went to this type of bar, and just sat there, eating and relaxed. And Luana was surprised when I didn't order water, but strawberry juico instead! I guess i don't have to say that I'm having a great time, even greater than before, and that I'm enjoying being here.

New two-month-update

So after two more months I'm writing again. Don't really know why it took my so long, but probably has something to do with school, being a bit stressed and the switching of my family. As the last things indicate, a lot of things have happened. And in addition to this kind of huge change I have also during these two month been in a car accident when my schoolbus crashed (the Volkmann-bus from Pomerode driving into the car in front and then the trailer behind the bus crashing into the Volkmann), a "shooting-episode"(two boys getting into aa fight and one of them being sent of two the hospital with a bullett that had to be removed) at a party near my old house that I was at and a lot of small things happening.
My new life in my new family is going great to. The family is really taking good care of me and I'm enjoying being with them. My new mother is named Marly and works as an reseptionist at one of the hospitals here in Blumenau. Like she said herself on my first day: she talks loud and fast, but I think listening to her and having to keep up with her talking is going to improve my portuguese. My new father is a professor who is now studying to, and reminds me a lot of my own dad sometimes. He always have some projects going on to improve stuff around the house, and also he does everything for his two daughters. And then there are my two new sisters. Luana is 19 years old, an therefore my nw bigsister. She works a lot and also studies, so I don't see her as much as i would like, but when we hang out together I always have a good time. Lauren is 11 years old, and she is probably one of the sweetest 11-years-old I have ever met. She also appears more than 11-years-old and she is a great person just talking and hanging out with. And now I also have a cat! And I'm kind of surprised that I'm actually liking it since I never used to like cats.. His name is Boris, and he is an outdoorcat, exept for the fact that I never seen him outside of the house.
Now I'm finally having my summerholidays after passing the year without needing to have any examens! Just need to finish my danceperformance on Saturday and my work and capoeira, and then I will suddenly have "nothing" to do for the next two months.
Christmas is also coming up, but I'm not really feeling it. It's hard walking around in with more than 30 degrees under palmtrees and at the same time feeling christmas coming. I'm more used to snow and all the traditions we have at home in Norway, so this Christmas is going to be tough. My mom sent me a Christmas-calender for me and my two new sisters to open, and we're all enjoying that. Christmas-decorations here are also a bit... different, I guess. They have a lot of lights that are blinking and stuff. And I really mean A LOT. Going to be a different experience from the normal Christmas I'm used, but will be interesting seeing how they celebrate Christmas in another country. Just thinking all the time about that I will be in Norway next Christmas and all the Christmases after this, just to not miss it too much.
